“I am the Lord, I change not”—Malachi
3:6
“And Thou Lord in the beginning hast
laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are
the work of Thy hands. . . They shall be changed but
Thou art the same and Thy years shall not fail”—Hebrews
1:10 and 12.
We
find decay and change in all around us, as the years
come and go. There is nothing secure, stable or
steadfast. Our loved ones, family and friends leave
us. They cannot remain. There is nothing certain
in the world, nothing to which we may cling and find
comfort. Our only hope is Christ, the unchanging
one, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and to day,
and for ever”—Hebrews 13:8. He is our comfort,
and our stay. He remains forever the same, through
all seasons and surroundings, unchanging.
His love is unchanging. “Having loved His
own, He loved them to the end”—John 13:1. His
love passeth knowledge, the breadth, the length, the
depth, the height has never yet been comprehended.
Ephesians 3:17-19 – “That Christ may dwell in
your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and
grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all
saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth,
and height; and to know the love of Christ which
passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all
the fullness of God.” Many waters cannot
quench it, neither can the floods drown it; “Many
waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods
drown it: if a man would give all the substance of
his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.”
It never fluctuates, much less changes as our
friends’ love does. Their love may fail us when we
need it most, but His remains unchanging as
Himself. There is nothing that we may or may not do,
that will separate us from that love. It is ever
the same, abiding faithful throughout the years.
Christ so wonderful, so great!
His love is as His Name
Abiding ever strong and true.
Throughout the years the same!
